“Battle of the MIND..”

Love the Lord                                                                                   ****

“Let this MIND be in you which was in CHRIST JESUS…
Philippians  2 : 5

How can we gain victory over our thoughts??
We are what we think.-
“Sow a thought , and you reap an act;
Sow an act, and  you reap a habit;
Sow a habit, and you reap a character;
ow a character and you reap a

The battles for human souls
are fought in our thought life.
It is there that we win or lose.

It is a fine line- a delicate matter,
to determine just where sin begins -.
Satan will take God’s blessings and by
cunning perversion
turn them into temptations.
The devil corrupts – by idle
‘imaginings and daydreams’.

God works a miracle in our lives
to give us the victory.
He does not interfere with our choices..-
Our choices will decide –
our victory or defeat!

“God has given us the power of choice –
it is ours to exercise.
We can choose to serve God:;
We can give Him our will –
So He can work in us to
will and to do according to His good pleasure.

Thus our whole nature will be brought
under the control of Christ..”
{Ministry of Healing; EGW.}

Gain the victory – over sins of our “thoughts”
– through surrender to Jesus Christ…

Wishing you a Blessed Sabbath.

“And who knows whether you
have not attained royalty
for such a time as this?”
Esther 4: 14

Queen Esther and her cousin Mordecai,
made a difficult decision to  appeal
to King Ahasuerus  to save their people- The Jews.
Esther instructed him to summon all the Jews
to join her and her maidens in fasting and praying.

She said- “If I perish- I perish.”
She had decided to risk her life
by illegally appearing before the king.
Her courage and faith stemmed from her early life-
Mordacai had taught her the faith of her people.
Her life had its focus on God
instead of herself.

She made the decision to sacrifice her life
if necessary for the sake  of  her people.
Esther believed God had a plan for her life
compelled her to let Him use her to fulfill it.

Esther, by following God’s leading,
brought salvation to her people.
Their marvelous victory resulted in a festival
of thanksgiving celebration – known as PURIM-
which Jews celebrate even today.

God has made a plan for us too-
Do you believe He has put you
where you are for a purpose?-
For such a time as this?
We can confidently and joyfully accomplish
great things for God-
by bringing His LOVE .to someone.

From Small Beginnings…

***Singing                                                                                          ****

“Arise, shine:  for your light has come! … ” Isiah 60 : 1

In 1844 the first Sabbath-observing
Adventist group came into being.
On May 21 -1863 in Battle Creek, Michigan,
that the First General Conference was organized
and adopted -to this day. {Every 5 Years.}

From that small beginning,
a worldwide movement began.
What a vision for our pioneers?

Ellen G White said  – “I looked intensely over the world,
and I began to see jets of light like stars
dotted all through this darkness,
and then I saw another and another added light,
and so through this darkness the
starlike lights were increasing.”

And the angel said  – “These are they that believe
on the Lord Jesus Christ;
and obey the words of Christ-
These are the Lights of the world.”

“And I saw then theses little jets
and from the north to the south –
and the east to the west-
and finally lightening the whole world.”
{Selected Messages, book1}

This is going to be an amazing
fulfillment of this Prophecy.

The Commission is -“Go ye into all the world –
and spread the gospel.” Just work where you are!

“For you died,  and your life is hidden with CHRIST. in God.”   Colossians  3 : 3

“In Him we live, and move and have our being.”  Acts 17 : 28

When we enter into a saving transaction with Christ
whereby He takes our sin and gives us His righteousness,-
we are perfect in Him.
His demonstration of His unconditional love
wins our love and loyalty in response.
We love Him because He first loved us.”
1 John 4:19

Because we love Jesus we want to please Him,
so as we learn His will, we do it.
His LOVE demonstrated to motivates  our obedience.
But because our “life is hidden with Christ in God,”
– when the Father looks at us He sees Jesus and his perfections.
As long as we abide in Him,
– we are perfect – perfect in Him.

Blessed Sabbath..

My Redeemer Lives!

Live by Faith

And as for me,  I know my REDEEMER LIVES,
and at the last He will take His stand on the Earth.
Job 19 : 25

The amazing thing is that in spite of Job’s
misunderstanding  of God’s character,
Job would not give up his faith in God’s love for him
and the hope of the resurrection
and eternal life at the end of time.

This text strongly indicates Job had struggled in his thinking
and feelings from despair to confidence and hope.
“From the depths of discouragement and despondency –
Job rose to heights of implicit trust in the mercy
and the saving power of God.”  {P & P -E G White}}

The story of Job and God’s dealing with him
is one of the most encouraging episodes found in Scripture.
We too may have troubles in our lives – we pray that like Job –
we will never loose our confidence in our Lord.

We have the Blessed Hope – of a Resurrection-
And a Second Advent- For those who love the Lord
and look for His coming.

Luke 3 : 22
And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him,
and a Voice came from heaven which said-
“You are My beloved Son;  in You I am well pleased.”
I dedicate my Journal today – to Chi Senior
a beautiful lady who came to hear about the Bible Sabbath
when she listened to- the local radio on 3ABN
informing her of the SDA Church. And she started attending.
On Sabbath 7th June 2014- Chi will give herself to the Lord-
By being Baptized- Thanks be to God!
 Immediately after He was baptized, as He was praying,
the heavens were opened and a dove came down
and rested
on Jesus.
It was the Spirit of God in the form of a dove
that had come down to show who Jesus was.
Suddenly there was a voice from heaven saying,
“You are my beloved Son,  in whom I am well pleased”.
The dove and the voice of God were a sign to John,
that Jesus was the Messiah who had been promised.
Baptism symbolizes and declares our new faith in Christ
and our trust in His forgiveness.
Buried in the water,  we arise to a new life in Jesus,
empowered by the Holy Spirit.

By baptism we confess our faith
in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ,
and testify of our death to sin
and of our purpose to walk in newness of life.
are received as members of His church.

Baptism is a symbol of our union with Christ,
the forgiveness of our sins,
and our reception of the Holy Spirit.
Baptism is by immersion in water,
and is an affirmation of faith in Jesus
and evidence of repentance of sin.
It follows instruction in the Holy Scriptures
and acceptance of their teachings. [Fundamental Beliefs, 14]

Happiness – and Health!.

“A joyful heart is good medicine,
but a broken spirit dries up the bones.”
Proverbs 17  : 22

Paul knew the power in having a good attitude
when he wrote in –  Philippians 4 : 8 –
“And now, my friends,  all that  is true,
all that is  noble,  all that is  just and pure,
all that is lovable and gracious,
whatever is excellent and admirable –
fill all your thoughts with these things.”

Again and again experience and now even science,
has proved that people can improve their health
by change of attitude.
“Between the mind and the body
there is a mysterious and wonderful relation.
They react upon each other.”

Norman Cousins, former editor of Review of Literature,
had a serious and potentially fatal disease.
When the doctor’s could not help him-
he began taking the “merry heart”
medicine described in our text.
He secured all the humorous books that he could find
and concentrated  on making himself laugh.
After recovering he claimed that he  had
-laughed himself to health.

If laughter had a positive effects as this –
what will it do in the life of a Christian,
who has additional resources-?

Such as the  quiet spirit of “gratitude and praise”
that center on Jesus?
A true Christian has many good reasons to be –

“FAITH.. is the Victory..”

lose faith

…. His compassions fail not..
They are new every morning;
Lamentations  3 : 22-23

The “Fruit of Faithfulness” – is much needed in our time.
Faith – holds us steady
– when earthly foundations crumble all about us.
Faith – holds us steady
– when adversities hold us like a cloud of gloom.
Faith –  Uplifts and Energizes
“FAITH- is the VICTORY –  that overcomes the world.”

To believe is to be strong.
Doubt cramps energy.
Faith is energy  and power –
Enabled by the Holy Spirit in our lives.
Resulting in Faith-full-ness.

The Creator- God – who put faithfulness-
into the- fabric of the universe –
will produce that quality in the surrendered life.
The fruit of faith in our life will lead you and others
to limitless spiritual discoveries.

But God demonstrates His LOVE – towards us,
in that while we were still sinners,
Christ died for us.   Romans 5 : 8

Each year at the Feast of the Passover
the Roman Governor
would release a prisoner chosen by the people.
When Pilate offered them the option –
between Barabbas and Jesus
– they selected Barabbas!
He had been imprisoned on charges
of robbery and murder-
and was awaiting death by crucifixion.

So can you imagine that day –
when the door of his dark cell opened
and the soldiers entered?
He thought his day had come –
but instead the Romans released him.

Who was Barabbas?
He was the guilty one who deserved to die-
but was set free because –
ANOTHER died in his place.

Who was Jesus?
Who was this ONE who was wiling to die
for all the  guilty of all ages?
Who is this Jesus – who died for me?

Who was Barabbas?
In a sense he was – you and I.
All of us who are guilty before God.

I thank God for sending His dear Son -to die for my sins.

“The Fruit of the Spirit..”

fruit of the spirit

 “By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit;
so you will be My disciples.” John 15  :8

“But the Fruit of the spirit is LOVE-”  Galatians 5:22.
Love comes first and rightly so –
For when love takes possession of the soul all the other
Fruit will appear in ones life.

The love of God manifested in His people
draws like a magnet.  Jeremiah 31:3 says –
I have loved you with a everlasting love;
therefore with loving kindness I will draw you.”

 It is the demonstration of God’s love
that motivates men and women to love God.-
“We love Him because He first loved us.” 1 John  4: 19
The ‘fruit’ of love in the early Christians
created in the pilgrims a desire for that love.

When the ‘fruit’- which is eternal
is demonstrated in our lives-
we will be entrusted with more- “Gifts”

“The Lord’s Day..”

And it shall be from new moon to new moon
and from Sabbath to Sabbath,
all mankind  will come to bow down before Me.”
says the Lord.”   Isaiah 66:

Here Isaiah describes the redeemed worshiping God
on the Sabbath in the new earth .

When God created our world,
he intended to personally fellowship with mankind.
God planned the seventh-day Sabbath rest
as a special time when He Himself would have
communion with His created beings.
Therefore, each Sabbath day should be a weekly
reminder of  our rest in Him –  when He returns.

“For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth,…..
and rested on the seventh day.” Exodus : 20:11
This command has not changed

As the  text says in Mark  2: 27-28
The Sabbath was made for the benefit of humans.
In other words- the Sabbath was not made to be worshiped
rather to provide opportunities for WORSHIP.
A truly  way to experience our rest and freedom in Christ.

The Sabbath points back to creation –
and eternity planted in it – for the future  –
to continue in heaven and in the earth made new!!

So much to Praise God for.

“Remembering- Fallen – Hero’s”…

“I do not pray for these alone,

but also for those who will believe in Me through their word”.
John 17 : 20

A Tribute to ANZAC Day

With their hair a little whiter, their step not quite so sure
Still they march on proudly as they did the year before.
Theirs were the hands that saved us, their courage showed the way
Their lives they laid down for us, that we may live today.

From Gallipoli’s rugged hillsides, to the sands of Alamein
On rolling seas and in the skies, those memories will remain.
Of airmen and the sailors, of Lone Pine and Suvla Bay
The boys of the Dardenelles are remembered on this day.

They fought their way through jungles,
their blood soaked desert sands
They still remember comrades who rest in foreign lands.
They remember the siege of old Tobruk, the mud of the Kokoda Trail
Some paying the supreme sacrifice with courage that did not fail.
To the icy land of Korea, the steamy jungles of Vietnam
And the heroic battle of Kapyong and that epic victory at Long Tan.

Fathers, sons and brothers, together they fought and died
That we may live in peace together, while at home their mothers cried.
When that final bugle calls them to cross that great divide
Those comrades will be waiting when they reach the other side.

Ken Bunk

As we remember the Fallen Hero’s –
We have to remember the “ONE” who died in our place.
Are we living to please ourselves? –
or are we living to please Him?
Jesus is saying – “LOVE them for My sake.”.

Think of the “Diggers” who went to war-
but never came back to their loved ones.
They have ‘paid the price for their country’.
May they get their reward. R.I.P.

Honoring the ‘Digger’s – on ANZAC Day.

“I Am the Ressurection..”

he arose

 “I am the resurrection and the life.
He, who believes in me, though he may die,
he shall live.”
John 11 : 25

On the Sunday morning the women
came to the tomb bringing spices.
As they approached the tomb-
the big problem on their mind was-
“Who shall roll away the stone?”

 But Before that:-
“And, behold there was a great earthquake for the
angel of the Lord descended from heaven.”
“His Countenance was like lightning,
and his raiment white as snow”-
“With fear the soldiers did shake-
and became as dead men.”

The angel rolled away the stone and said-
Son of God, come forth;  Thy father calls Thee”.
They see Jesus come forth in majesty and glory-
the angel host bow low in adoration before the redeemer,
and welcome Him with songs of praise.

The graves that were opened on Friday
when Christ died – now when Christ rose
-many righteous dead- came forth from their graves.
as a witness that He had risen.
Those saints came forth glorified-
chosen and holy ones of every age-
from creation down to the time of Jesus;
to testify and declare His glory.
Later these people were seen by many-
saying ..”We be raised with Him”.

The women–feared that their enemies
had taken away the body;
Suddenly they beheld two angels in white.
They told them the news that Jesus was not there -He had risen,
They instructed them to go and tell the disciples the news.
He would go before them to Galilee.
With fear and great joy the women hurried
back to the sorrowing disciples-
to tell them all they had seen and heard.
They ran hastily to the tomb – John and Peter-
rushing in-they saw the tomb empty- so they returned –
marveling at what they had seen and heard.

1mary & J

Mary- lingered by the tomb.
She looked again into the sepulcher-
and she broke down in bitter weeping.
As she turned away she saw Jesus standing near-
but she did not recognize Him.
He spoke to her tenderly
inquiring the cause of her weeping.
Thinking He was the gardener she begged Him
to tell her where he had laid Him.

Jesus spoke to her- “Mary.”-
Recognizing His voice she said,
“Master”- and wanted to embrace Him.
Jesus said- “Do not touch Me-
I have  not yet ascended to my Father-“

But go and tell my disciples and ‘Peter ‘ that I go to my Father-
and I will meet them in Galilee,”   – John 20.
Joyfully she hastened to tell them what she had seen and heard.

Jesus ascended to His Father-
Angels- surrounded the Son of God.
They lifted the everlasting gates-
that the king of Glory might come in.
Jesus was in the presence of His Father-
“This is my Son- in whom I am well pleased.”

Then Jesus returned to earth-
to meet His disciples as promised. He gave us HOPE.

“God so LOVED the World..”

                     jesus b

“For God so LOVED the world
that he gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have eternal life”.
John 3 : 16

It was after midnight when the mob led Jesus out of Gethsemane
and headed for the palace of Annas- {ex- high priest.}
Next he was taken before Caiaphas – the high priest.

Only the Roman authorities could sentence a person to death.
So he was taken before Pilate and Herod –
but neither of them  believed Jesus to be guilty.
But they lacked the courage to defend Him
against the angry mob.

Finally Pilate gave the mob a choice between
Christ and Barabbas a criminal.
– One would be set free, and the other crucified.
The people made their choice.
Barabbas would go free, and Jesus was led to Calvary.

 Prophecy according to Isaiah 53-
“The crowds like wild beasts dragged Jesus away;
They stripped Him;  Mocked and scourged Him:
They put a purple robe on Him
and a crown of thorns on His head
and a reed in His hand.
They spat on Him and bowed

the knee before Him saying-
“Hail King of the Jews”
Then they put His own clothes on Him
and placed a cross upon Him
and led Him to Calvary. When He could not carry it
-Simon of Cyrene , was compelled to carry it.

Mark 15:15-
Says it was about nine o’clock in the morning when,
after a sleepless night, the Roman soldiers
placed Jesus on the cross between two thieves.

Jesus Crucified –They brought Him to a place
called Golgotha –
and there they Crucified Him –
Nailed to a cross- between two thieves.
They cast lots and divided His garments-
And above His head they put a sign up-
”This is the King of the Jews.”
It was about 9 o’clock in the morning-
Jesus had had no sleep all night..

 Seven times Jesus spoke from the cross

1 ~To the Jews and Roman Soldiers who condemned Him He said-
*” Father forgive them,
for they do not know what they do.”

2 ~To the penitent thief on the cross –
*”Assuredly, I say to you today,
you will be with Me in paradise.”

3 ~ To His Mother*”Woman,  behold your son”!
And to John– ” Behold your mother.”

4 ~ Feeling His separation from his Father – He said,
*”My God, My God-  Why have you forsaken Me”?

5 ~ According to Scripture, Jesus said-* “I thirst”

6 ~ After refusing the vinegar they gave Him.–
Jesus announced-

7~ After six hours on the cross- Jesus said-
*”Father, into Your hands I commend My spirit.

Jesus- was that Passover Lamb – Dying for mankind.

It was the ultimate “Sacrifice” Thank God for this!

itis finished

Before sunset on Friday –
Jesus was laid to rest in the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea.

“Triumphal Entry..”

easter T enr

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your King is coming to you;
He is just and having salvation,
lowly and riding on a donkey, a colt,
the foal of a donkey.”
Zechariah 9 : 9

Five hundred years before Jesus’ birth,
the prophet Zechariah
foretold His “Triumphal  Entry”

-which took place at Jerusalem
the Sunday before the Resurrection.
It was the Passover season-
and therefore hundreds of thousands;
of Jews may have been in Jerusalem  at that time.

Jesus came riding on a colt
as was the Jewish custom for a royal entry.
This day which seemed to the disciples
the crowning day of their lives.
– would have been shadowed with gloom
had they known that this rejoicing
was only the beginning of what was to follow-
the suffering and death of their Master

Never before had the world seen
such an entry procession.
Unlike the processions of an earthly conqueror;
There were the captives of Satan
set free by a loving Christ.

The blind who had received their sight
marched behind the resurrected Lazarus-
guiding the donkey. The mute whose tongues
had been loosed by the Healer’s power
shouted the loudest ‘hosannas’,
and the restored cripples waved
their palm branches- vigorously.

The shouts went up continually,
“Hosanna to the Son of David;

Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord;
Hosanna in the highest.”

It meant to them “He has saved us.”

When the Pharisees, jealous of His popularity,
complained about this demonstration-Jesus said-
“If these should keep silent,
the stones would immediately cry out”.
{Luke 19:40}

When the procession reached the brow of the hill-
They could see before them Jerusalem,
and the Temple came into view,
its marble and gold tinted splendidly
by the setting sun.
Jesus halted with the multitude.
Its stately grandeur seemingly pointing to heaven.
The Temple had been the pride and
glory of the Jewish nation.

Jesus gazes upon the scene –
the multitudes hush their shouts.
All eyes turned to the Savior,
expecting to see admiration in His face as they felt.
But they were surprised and disappointed
to see His eyes fill with tears- while an anguish wail
burst from His quivering lips
– as if of a broken heart.

In the confusion of the commotion
between priests and the Roman officers-
Jesus unnoticed made His way quietly
to the Temple before returning to Bethany-
where He spent the night in prayer.

Today,I want to pause and reflect on this experience.
A moment of joy for the crowd –
hoping that this was their King- but that did not happen
Today, we can rejoice that the “King of Kings’
– has made a triumphal entry into our hearts and lives.

“It will be Remembered..”

“She has done, what she could.
She has come beforehand
to anoint My body for burial.”

Mark 14 : 8

The night before the “Triumphal  entry”-
Jesus attended a feast at the house of Simon.
A leaper- healed earlier by Jesus.
It was on this occasion that Mary Magdalene
broke a box of alabaster and anointed
Jesus with this costly ointment.
And dries his feet with her hair.

Others who were there criticized her,
but Jesus defended her saying   –
“Wherever this gospel is preached
throughout the world,

what this woman did will be spoken
of as a memorial to her.”

Mark 14 : 9

Why did Jesus give such emphasis to her deed?
Why did He say to-“tell about it everywhere”?-

1. She was a sinner who had been forgiven by Jesus.
2. She loved her Savior.
3. She put her love into action.
4. She had a sense of urgency.
5. And she did what she  could.

Every one has Spiritual ‘gifts’ – given by God –
to be used in service for others.
We cannot all do the same things-
as we have different gifts.
But we all can do something!

If we all used our “gifts’- to help others-
think what would happen.

May He also say to us- that we did what we could.

Have a Blessed SABBATH.

“Shining in Darkness”

“I have  come as LIGHT into the world,
that everyone who believes in Me
may not remain in darkness.”
John 12 : 46

Jesus came to dispel the gloom and misunderstanding
about His Father- God.
Speaking of Jesus, John said-
“In Him was life and the life was the light of men.
– And the light shines in darkness…” John 1:4-5

The “Message” is clear-:
We receive His life by receiving His Word.
The Words that I have spoken to you are
spirit and are life.” John 6:63

Although Jesus in not here with us today-
His Word is.  Through its pages -” The Bible”-
The human mind comes into contact with the divine-
Spending time in God’s Word is important.

It is a privilege to have the Lord rise upon us
and reveal His glory in us.
He will speak to us-  through His WORD!

Saying- “Thank-You”

“Thank the LORD because He is good.
His LOVE continues forever.”
Psalms 106 : 1

“WORSHIP” –  is when we are aware that what we have been given
is far greater than what we can give.

Prayer and Praise – We can commune with God at any time,and any place.
He is always present to hear us.
So comforting to know that we can tell Him
anything and everything.  Our fears. our hopes, our joys-
The Lord wants us to share them with Him= like you would to a friend.

Even though God knows our needs even before we ask –
our highs and our lows – He still wants us to ask Him.
Above all we should-  “Praise Him in Prayer”-
Let this be our Worship daily.

Today – I have a lot to Praise and be thankful for-
as the Lord has seen me through another year of my life –
I have been blessed with health and so much more- .

I do hope that you too will spend time with the Lord-
with thankfulness and praise – for His Blessings.

Set your  minds

Things of the World..

“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil,
for which some have strayed from the faith,
in their greediness,and pierced themselves
through with many sorrows.  1 Timothy 6 ; 10-

So what does materialism improve?
Faster travel! – More abundance! – Wealth for all?–
Many are convinced of the greatness of material things.
forgetting that wealth has its limitations.

It will pay for medical bills – but not for ones health;
Houses but not a home;
Followers but not friends;  Envy but not love.
It places too much emphasis on having
and far too little emphasis on being.

When nearing the end of ones life –
it becomes evident that an abundance of things
become an useless burden.
One can only use some – the rest becomes a snare.

One who neglects spiritual for pursuit of material things;
Selling true ‘riches’ for glittering tinsel-
bartering God and heaven;
salvation and peace; for things that perish.

The right place for ‘wealth’- is not in our hearts;
not in our hands – but under our feet-
as we walk the streets of gold in heaven-
as the Bible tells us.

Men trust in becoming rich-
because they believe that money
can do more for them than God can. Money rivals God.
To covet is idolatry- and finally it destroys the worshiper.

The real riches- is what God desires to give us.
God’s Son’s sacrifice – for the whole word –
Is our richest gift.

“To Be Content..”

cast b

“But godliness with contentment is great gain.”
1 Timothy 6 : 6

Contentment is found only when we learn
to be satisfied with where we are and what we have.
It  is an experience that cannot come
to the human heart naturally —
For the human heart is constantly dissatisfied.
And so cannot seem to have peace.

Environment, position, or power,
will not bring contentment for some
– It is a constant inability to
live above our circumstances.

God has a purpose for the things that befalls us.
Contentment- does not depend outward circumstances,
but rather on our inner experience.

The secret of a truly satisfied and contented life
is to be found only in our relationship with Jesus.

Scripture tells of a man who had everything
that he could desire and still was unhappy.
Position, honor – were not enough for him.
All his blessings and benefits – did not make him happy.
He could see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king’s gate-
and this displeased Haman- and he plotted against him-
to have him killed.  In the end it all came back on Haman.
A good example for not being content.

We are asked – to talk to God –
and He has promised to supply all our needs
and not all what we want!

“The Father’s Love for us!”..

love this is

“For the Father Himself loves you,
because you have loved Me, and have believed
that I came forth from the father.”
John 16 : 27

The Father’s LOVE is so great that he wants
to reproduce His character in us.
God created us in His own image,
and he wants to restore us back to that condition –
The restoration process never stops, it keeps growing.

The Apostle Paul was well acquainted with the struggles
of the Christian life when he stated-
‘that he was was crucified with Christ and that he died daily.’
He faced the danger of death constantly from outside foes –
but he also knew his enemy lay within himself.
That is why he said-
“We do not fight against flesh and blood,
but against dark spiritual powers.”

When you look at a rosebud-
as is bathes in the warm sunshine,
it does not take long before it bursts forth in full bloom.
So as we understand GOD’S LOVE for us
and as we rest in the sunshine of His love,
our lives will spread open to exude
the beauty and fragrance He gives us.

It is beyond imagination that God,
the RULER of the universe – loves us
and wants to restore His character in us daily.

“Praise Him- for His Love- for each of us.”

Love the

Exchanged Riches..

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
that though He was rich,
yet for our sake He became poor,
that you through His poverty might become rich.”

2 Corinthians 8 : 9

We cannot imagine the luxury that Jesus abandoned
in heaven to come to our planet.
We cannot comprehend what our Lord left
to live among the poor on earth.
We can only stand in awe that he chose
to leave the beauties of the universe
and the companionship of unfallen beings
in order to redeem us.

When He was here on earth-
He had no place to call home.
His life style was that of a poor person.
But he did it for you and me.
If we can grasp His humility,
we can never doubt His Love For Us.

Jesus said- “He did not come into the world
to be served   –   but to serve-
and give His life a ransom for many.”
{Matthew 20:28}

If He was willing to give up so much for us –
We too should be willing to do the same for Him and others.

He has promised to be with us always- and has given us an example.

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness,
even so must the Son of Man be lifted up:
and who ever believes may in Him have eternal life.”
John  3 : 14-15

Every Jew was familiar with the fiery serpent story-
It happened when the Israelites journeyed to Canaan from Egypt.
It was a difficult trip ,but rather than remember God’s blessings-
they now found fault.
They failed to recognize that each day was a miracle for them.
God had shielded them them from all types of danger.

To help them learn an important lesson –
The Lord removed His protection– there were many poisonous snakes-
they were bitten and many died.
The people went to Moses begging him to speak to God for them.
Then the Lord instructed Moses to make a bronze serpent
and put it on a pole.
Moses urged those who were bitten to look by FAITH at the serpent-
If they did they would live. Many did and lived, but those who refused died.

There was NO power in the bronze serpent to heal them.
Faith in God and Faith alone healed them that were bitten.

When Nicodemus- a Jewish leader came to Jesus by night –
Jesus reminded him of this ancient story.
He began to sense that “the New Birth idea”
was a result of looking to Jesus by FAITH.

At the crucifixion of Jesus and after –
Nicodemus knew for sure what the serpent story meant
Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:21-
“He made Him who knew NO sin to be sin on our behalf…”
Our sins went to the cross in the form of Jesus.

Praise Him- for being lifted up for you -/ me
and let us look to him in Faith -and believe!

When one body can save another!!..

“For God so loved the world,
that he gave His only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in Him- should not perish,
but have eternal life.”
John 3 : 16

Would I do it even – for someone I love dearly?

In a way ‘Organ Transplants’ reflect the example
of Jesus in His victory on the cross.
From a human viewpoint the most dramatic way
that we can give of ourselves to others –
is to share our body organs and our blood with those who need it.

Jesus choose not only to donate part of His body
to save us, but ALL of it. –
His very life – to give us new spiritual heart transplants.
He did not just risk his life
-to give us new spiritual heart transplants;
 He made a total sacrifice of it for us.

He donated Himself- for everyone.
How can we ever thank Him enough for His amazing gift?
Let nothing hinder us from showing
our gratitude to our divine Donor!

“To Know God..”

b still

“And this is eternal life, that they may know You,
the only true God, and Jesus whom You have sent.”
John 17 : 3

John Wesley studied and preached the need for a closer
relationship with God for 9 years –
and he gained 30 followers.
So he was amazed when a friend asked him the question:-
“John, do you really know GOD?”
Those words echoed and reechoed in his mind.

On his way back to England from America,
Wesley said -“I went to America to convert the Indians –
but oh! who shall convert me?”

After attending a meeting in London-
when someone read from ‘Luther’s – Epistle to the Romans’-
Wesley wrote – “I felt my heart strangely warmed-when I heard-
how God works in the heart through faith in Christ.”

A new power came into his ministry –
His life was truly changed –
and others were being changed through him.
He found that personal peace in  his relationship with Him.

How we can come to know God personally? –
* Make a choice – A desire to know Him personally.
* Spend time in his Word- the Bible.
* Communicate through Prayer.
* Meditate on His ‘Love and goodness’.
* Count Our blessings with gratitude.
* And share with others what He has bestowed upon us.

“Good Gifts..”

i am the vine

“Every good action and every perfect gift is from God..”
James 1 : 17

Just look at the “gifts” God has given us:-

He sends His angels to care for us;
His Holy Spirit to dwell in us;
And His Word to guide us.

Every time we speak – He listens;
Make a request and He responds;
{sometime not what we expect}

He will never let you to be tempted if we ask Him:
Or stumble too far:

Let a tear appear on your cheek –
and He is there to comfort us:

As much as we want to seek Him –
He wants to be with us more: …

We have been chosen by Christ …..
He has claimed us as His beloved.

“My Father’s Business”..

Let the words

And he said to them,
“Why is it that you sought Me?
Did you not know that I must be
about My Father’s business?”
Luke 2 : 49

At the age of twelve, when Jesus visited the temple
during the Passover and saw the priests
and the bleeding lamb on the alter, inspiration tells us.
-“The mystery of His mission was opened
to the Saviour.” {The Desire of Ages, p,78 EGW}

Jesus’ first public debate revealed His sense of mission.
The Holy Spirit had revealed to Him that He was appointed –
‘to preach the gospel; to heal the brokenhearted;
and to offer freedom to the captives in sin.’

At the well in Samaria – His own physical hunger
could not make Him forget His ‘mission.’

When death was approaching –
He reaffirmed that He had come-
‘to seek and save the lost.’

After His resurrection –
He made it clear that His mission was –
to send out his disciples –
“I have sent you – with My mission”

We have been set in the world
as watchmen and light-bearers –
To take a  message to a perishing world.

Let us ask God to help us be those light-bearers
– with a Mission.

Wishing you a “Happy Sabbath.”

“The power of GIVING..”

Sometimes your presence is worth a thousand words.

Be a Giver – A smile;  a greeting; a warm reaction;
A hug can go a long way in making someone
feel accepted and appreciated.

And don’t just give – Give liberally, cheerfully,
above and beyond the normal

Proverbs 3 : 27
“Do not withhold good from them to whom it is due,
when it is in the power of  your hand to do so.”

Offer words of praise, encouragement, thanks, and  kindness.-
Send a note of appreciation.
Sharing “Blessings” with others is a choice.

Choose to make a difference today!
God has designed us for fellowship with other people.
Communicate clearly and lovingly.

Wishing you a Blessed Sabbath – and a peaceful weekend.

“Take Courage..”

“Have I not commanded you?
Be strong and of good courage;
do not be afraid, nor be dismayed,
for the Lord your God is with you
wherever you go.”  Joshua 1 : 9

What will give us freedom from fear?
Learn to trust God -Trust His plan for our life.
‘Courage’ – is knowing that God is with us –
and  He will never fail us.

When mountains of difficulties
seem to rise up ahead of you-
Trust God to change the circumstances.
And even if it does not happen-
have faith that He knows what is best for us .

“When in faith we take hold of His strength,
He will change, wonderfully change,
the most hopeless, discouraging outlook.
He will do this for the Glory of His name.”  {E.G White}

The roots of courage and
fearlessness are faith and devotion.
Jesus said- “Be of good cheer:” -“Don’t be afraid.”
Help me / you to draw strength
from the promise of the text for today.

May God go with you- Happy Sabbath.

“Surely goodness and mercy
shall follow me all the days of my life;
And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord –
Forever.”   Psalms  23 : 6

I am so glad that God is my Father and my Friend-
and I can have the promise of His blessings in my life.

In Psalms 16:1 – David says of God -“
You will show me the path of life;
in Your presence is fullness of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

God will never fail us or change His mind about us.
In His loving care we have a shelter in the storm
and a haven when life knocks us around.
In His loving care we can have a generous heart
because He provides abundantly.
Read Psalms 23.

“Praise His holy Name.”
He is a wonderful, powerful God-and He loves me.

New Year- 2015 – “Greetings!”

“Fear not,  for I am with you;
be not dismayed,  for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,  yes, I will help you;
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41 : 10

A Happy and Blessed New Year – on this first Day of 2015!
And it will be- as we begin every day with God and his Word!

Today’s text- contains five promises.
Claim it as we walk into the unknown.
The untried paths of another year with confidence and trust.
Meditate on these five promises:-

1.“I am with you.”
Walk with Him in the next 365 days- and expect good things.
For He will show you – “the path of life”
and in His presence “is fullness of joy.” {Ps. 16:11}

2. “I am your God.”
With God with us we can face the trials we may encounter.
For He has said- “Nothing can separate us from the LOVE of God.”
{Romans 8:35-39}

3. “I will strengthen you.”
By nature we are weak –
but God has made provision that through Him,
we may be “partakers of His divine nature.”
{2 Peter 1:4} and have the strength to resist.

4. “I will help you.”
With God we can turn every trial into triumph,
every adversary into achievement,
every misfortune into mastery,
and every calamity into conquest.

5. “I will uphold you… with my right hand.”
The hands that uphold the worlds in space-
and the planets in orbits, will sustain us always-
has promised us to keep us from falling.
“I am with you always…” {Matthew 28:20)

“The Child of Bethlehem.”

xx                                                                  avd3****

Then the angel said to them,
“Do not be afraid, for behold,
I bring you good tidings of great joy
which will be to all people.
Today your Savior was born in the town of David.
He is Christ the Lord.”
Luke 2:10-11

“……The gift of God is eternal life.” Romans 6:23.
This is the time when Christians
around the world remember His birth.
Our heavenly Father’s greatest gift to the world –
was His Son Jesus– and Jesus’ gift is eternal life –
that cost Him His life.

God’s plan for a great family reunion
centers on the Child of Bethlehem.
It does not matter when He was born,-
the very fact that He was born itself
calls for celebration and rejoicing.
Because He was born and fulfilled His mission-
there will be a resurrection one day!
And there will be a family circle again – Forever!

It was an extra-ordinary night-
with ordinary sheep and shepherds.
They would  have been forgotten
and not recorded in History –
if an angelic host did not appear in the night sky
to announce the birth of Jesus.
The night was not ordinary any more-

As  we celebrate his BIRTH –
let us look forward and rejoice
that soon He will return again-
For another Celebration!

May God bless you all -who have shared in
‘reading my Journal’  this year.
As we celebrate the real reason for – Christmas.
 The blessed gift to the world.

The reason for the season- Jesus!

“Give Thanks…”

 And at that very moment she came up
and began giving thanks to God,
and continued to speak of Him to all those
who were looking for the
redemption of Jerusalem.
Luke 2 : 38

Yesterday I shared with you the story of
Simeon blessing Jesus in the Temple.
Someone else entered the scene.
A prophetess well advanced in age-
her name was Anna. {Luke 2:36-37}

“At the very moment” while Simeon
was uttering his prophetic words,
Anna joined them and  “began giving thanks to God.”
She too was praising the Lord,
for the privilege of seeing the infant Jesus-
the long-looked for and hoped for Messiah!

Try to experience – what it must have been like
for these two people to know and believe,
as they looked into the peaceful, beautiful face
of this infant child – that He was the Messiah;
the Redeemer  that humanity was waiting for.

We too can have that same hope –
to see Jesus returning in the clouds of heaven –
The King of the universe!
He came the first time to preach the Gospel –
that He will come again the 2nd time
to take us home to Himself.

“Praise Him for His – Love – Redemption –
and Promise to return again.”

“Right on Time..”

But when the fulness of the time came,
God sent forth His Son,
born of a woman, born under the law.
Galatians  4 : 4

This text is one of reassurance.
When the time had been reached – our Lord came.

Expectations of the first coming of Jesus
gradually increased  in old Testament times.
When the moment arrived for Jesus’  birth in Bethlehem,
a few faithful people were anticipating the Messiah’s arrival.

Among them was an aged and devout man named Simeon –
looking for the consolation of Israel;
and the Holy Spirit was upon him. {Luke 2:29}

When Simeon saw Jesus – he took the infant in his arms,
lifted his eyes  towards heaven, pronounced a blessing, and said;
“Now, Lord, Thou dost let Thy bond servant depart in peace,
according to Thy Word.” {Luke 2:29}

Let us also look forward – to His second coming!
Let heaven rejoice over our joy in His first and second comings.
“Praise His Holy name.”

Wishing you a “Happy Sabbath”-
as we look forward to Christmas –
‘the real reason for the season.’

‘Words of Promise”….

“God has given a Son to us……
His name will be- Wonderful Counselor,
Powerful God,…. Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9 : 6

What did God do..?

“If our greatest need had been information-
God would have sent an educator;
If our greatest need had been technology –
God would have us a scientist;
If our greatest need had been money –
God would have sent us an an economist;
But since our greatest need was forgiveness –
God sent us a Savior.

Christmas cards- phrases filled with the reason we do it  anyway.

He became like us – so we could become like Him.

Angels still sing – and the star still beckons.

He loves each one of us – like there was only ONE  of us to love.

{Max Lucado.}

“Jesus is the real reason – for the season!”

“To see the Unseen!”

Jer Plans fu

“He gives strength  to those who are tired
and more power to those who are weak.”
Isaiah 40 : 29

An example of faith was
found on the wall of a concentration camp.
On it a prisoner had carved the words :-

“I believe in the sun, even though it doesn’t shine,

I believe in love – even when it isn’t shown,

I believe in God, even when He doesn’t speak.”

Try to imagine the person who etched those words.
Try to imagine his skeletal hand gripping
the broken glass or stone that cut into the wall.
Can you imagine his eyes squinting through the darkness
as he carved each letter?
What hand could have cut such a conviction?
What eyes could have seen good in such horror?

The only answer is – Eyes that chose to see the “unseen”.

Can we have such faith – when we find ourselves in such situations.

trust 3

“Your kingdom is built on what is right and fair.
LOVE and TRUTH are servants before your throne.”
Psalms  89 : 14

The single most difficult pursuit is ‘truth and love’

Love is a difficult pursuit. Truth is a tough one too.

Put them together, if one pursues truth and love at the same time –
you are on the right tract.

Love in truth.-  Truth in love.
Never one at the expense of the other.
Never the embrace of love –

without the torch of truth.
Never the heat of truth without the warmth of love…..

To pursue both is our singular  task.

Joy is the quality of life you have –
when you are with someone who loves you unconditionally.”
Lord, I’m so glad that’s you.

“Gaining New Strength”…

But those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;

they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40 : 31

Last week i spoke about “Waiting on the Lord”
And here is another promise for those who WAIT on the Lord.
What does it mean to ‘wait on the Lord?
It means to enter into a relationship with God, To rest  in Him:
Surrender to His will for our lives because
we know we can have complete confidence in Him.

Our time of waiting upon the Lord may be during
our worship – as we renew our minds.
Prayer is a relationship – a bridge that takes us away
from the things of the world – to a special time with God.

In sitting at the feet of Jesus –
Mary demonstrated the “one thing” we need.
What Martha, her sister needed was a calm, devotional spirit,
and a knowledge for the future.
She needed less anxiety for the things which would pass away,
and more for those things that endure forever.
We need like Mary- to spend time
listening to the Lord – through reading His word.

We should thank Jesus for His love to us.
Thank Him for His promise that
new strength is ours if we wait on the Lord.

Wishing you a “Blessed Sabbath”

pure in heart

“GOD will take Care of YOU!”..

do not fear

“Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage;
And He shall strengthen your heart.
Wait I  say on the Lord.”
Psalms 27 : 14

These are good and sobering words-
and there are so many words to uplift and
strengthen us in God’s Word;
during the times we are going through hardships.

No, some of us – have no idea of what some folk
are going through right now.
Our hearts and prayers and thoughts go out to the many
who have lost homes and property due to fires;
Young lives taken away:
Innocent people gunned down or killed in plane crashes –
In just one month!!

Hard to imagine that even in your troubles and hard times-
God is with you. And may you be blessed.

It is hard to be grateful when things are going wrong-
But gratitude in all circumstances is an
incredible quality within our reach – when we love God.

Be encouraged during difficult times- because
God knows about your joys and your sorrows.
He knows your strengths and weaknesses.
He is aware of all the challenges you face.
He knows your pain and sees your tears.
So take some hope and encouragement to know that
no matter what life has dealt you – you are not alone.

There are so many distressing evens
happening all around us daily.-
God’s tender care is with you-
even if at this time it is hard to understand.

He will take care of our every need.-

Our hearts and Prayers are with those
who are hurting-
“Father God, there is so much pain and suffering all around us-
It is hard to understand why life is so hard at times
– But I am so thankful to know that You
are in charge of the whole universe.
I am so glad I know You-
You give me strength to endure –
and I praise You.- Amen.

My refuge

“Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name;
worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.”
Psalms 29 : 2

All people worship something. –
We simply choose whom or what – we worship!

Someone defined worship – as offering our lives
and all that we are to God each day.
Worship is honor and adoration given to God.

Worship begins with meditation.
As we focus on God’s Word;
we will discover spiritual truth.
Meditation leads to praise –
and giving praise to God is worship

The theme of worship runs through the Bible.
The fall of the human race occurred when
Adam and Eve failed in honoring God.
The first murder occurred when Cain failed
to render to God acceptable worship.
The climax of the struggle between good and evil
is an issue over TRUE and false worship.
True WORSHIP – can take place anywhere and at any time –
Not only in a building like a church.

What does worship mean to us
and how often do we really worship?

Those who search will find Him…

God's grace

“O God, you are my God; early will I seek You;
my soul thirsts for You;  my flesh longs for You
in a dry and thirsty land  where there is no water.
Psalms 63 – {Read the whole Chapter}

With so much going on in our buy lives it is easy
not to get our priorities right.
We should set aside sometime –
to read and meditate on this Psalm 63-
Where David cries to God in the wilderness.

Today is the best time to get on track with God.
Use our time to be filled Spiritually
so we can serve God and his people.
Let people be refreshed by us
as we meet them in our daily living.
Put ‘seek first things first – Every day!.

“All over the world men and women are
looking wistfully to heaven.
Prayers and tears, and inquiries go up
from souls longing for light,
for grace, for the Holy Spirit.
Many are on the verge of the kingdom,
waiting only to be gathered in.”
(Acts of the Apostles p 109}

Father God, my soul longs for You.
Fill me with your love –
so that I can serve others-
And tell them of Your ‘living water’.

“Bow of Promise.”..

Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends,
let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit,
perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.
2 Corinthians 7 : 1

John,in Revelation wrote:
“They are leaves, from that tree which is
‘for the healing of the nations’. {Revelation 22:2}
When received and eaten they are to be the strength of the
character, the inspiration and sustenance of life.”
{ Ministry of healing, p, 122}

Have you ever tried to imagine the experience of Noah
and his family as they walked out of the ark
after their voyage of more than 1 year?
The ark had no outer deck for recreational activity,
no deck for basking in the sunshine.
Just an enclosed cabin below-
with all kinds of animal/ bird life.

Can you imagine the landscape left after that Flood
– rocks, boulders, and buried forests?
You wouldn’t need colors to paint the picture –
because it must have been all shades of gray.
Noah was thankful to be alive and to have his family with him.
He gathered them together for worship,
and just as they were rededicating themselves-
God put the colors into place in a picture.
A beautiful rainbow appeared in the heavens,
which was a token or promise that He would never
again allow a flood to destroy the earth and its people.

Sometimes, we pass through prolonged stormy experiences
that seem to leave our little world a desolate wilderness,
but when we take time to be with God-
He reminds us through the “Rainbow of His loving Promises
that he has not forsaken us,
that there will be a brighter tomorrow.”

“To every promise of God there are conditions.
If we are willing to do His will, all His strength is ours.
Whatever gift He promises is in the promise itself,
‘The seed is the Word of God’ {Luke 8:11}
As surely as the oak is in the acorn,
so surely is the gift of God in His promise.
If we receive the promise – we have the gift.”
{Education, p, 253.}

God’s promises are sure,
He will not disappoint, forget, or change His mind-
and he will fulfill them!
Then grasp His promises as leaves from the tree of life.”

Trust always in the Lord- he will not fail you.

God’s LOVE in Creation…..

Do u not kn

“Do we not all have ONE Father?  Has not ONE God created us?” Malachi 2 : 10

Every manifestation of creative power in an expression of infinite LOVE.”  {P&P p 33}
Whether it be a newborn baby or a whole host of stars,
in everything God expresses His infinite Love.

The whole world is a ‘nursery’.  Life is Love.
Life is sacred. Life is spiritual.
Thank God for it and Praise Him for His creation.
Why?  Our Creator- God of love brought life into existence.
From Him comes every intellectual and  artistic talent,
every emotional capacity, every gift of grace and love.

Genuine life – life breathed into all of us by a loving Creator –
has an awe and grandeur beyond comprehension.
God created all of us out of LOVE.
And through the process of human reproduction,
we share in that grandeur and wonder as we have the opportunity
to bring new life into existence because of love-

How great is our God.  – How mighty and awesome.
He brought mankind and the world into existence
– so we can have the opportunity of living eternally with him.

God of hope

“What~ / Who is TRUTH?”…

you r evertthing

“Pilate said to Him. .”What is truth?”
And when he had said this… he went out and said to them:
“I find no fault in Him at all.”
 John  18 :  38

Pilate asked Jesus- a good question.
– Perhaps the most profound question in the  entire Bible.
It is the core of who we are as moral beings. “A truthful person”.

Before Pilate even asked this of Jesus He had already declared-
“I am the Way, and the Truth and the Life.”
John 14:6
Jesus is truth.
His nature, His very Spirit is truth.

Jesus was speaking to Thomas,
who should have known the way to the ‘Father’s home’-
but clearly he was not sure or he would not have asked,
“Lord. we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?”
{John 14:5}

Christ’s answer rules out any other alternative.
From Adam and Eve until this moment, Jesus has always been the only way.
He was the way -“in the Old Testament;
During the time of The Reformers; and hundreds of others –
who He has entrusted ‘His Message’ to be proclaimed till the end of time.
In Hebrews 11 – there is a list of biblical ‘heroes’
who knew that Jesus, the Messiah, was the ONLY channel to Salvation.

He is our way- the ONLY Way.
Praise His name for showing us the way- and being the way.

“Power in the Blood…”

Easter - Ransom

And they overcame him, because of the blood of the Lamb
and because of the word of their testimony,
and they did not love their life even to death.
Revelation  12 : 11

Have we not struggled to overcome temptation?
Jesus’ perfection can make us feel hopeless.
If our salvation depended on our own, we are lost.
It is like chasing a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.
We can be thankful that our performance
is not the key to salvation.
If so salvation would be impossible!

The Bible warns us – to over come evil,  to reject the world,
and to walk the narrow way. So how do we overcome?
The Lord weaves about His willing people
threads to hold them in His life-giving control.
He does not use force,  but rather that we need to accept
the strands of strength He gives us to overcome temptations.

As the above Bible Text refers -the major strand-
is the blood of the Lamb.

As the human blood contains different
varieties of cells that fight for our lives –
So, the blood of Christ in a spiritual sense –
builds up our weakness and impurities,
and fights for our very lives.
By faith, when we accept Him, we become motivated
through the Spirit to obey right and reject wrong.

If we concentrate on what the
shed blood of Jesus really means -“
it makes a powerful impact on our minds.
It reminds us that – ‘God the Son’
poured his lifeblood for us , helps us turn against evil.
It glorifies right and encourages us to reject wrong.

Meditate on the words of the Hymn-
“Power in the Blood”-
“Would you o’er evil a victory win?
Would you be free from your passion and pride?…
Would you live daily His praises to sing?

Then the response to these questions is-
“There is pow’r,  pow’r,  wonder-working pow’r.
In the precious blood of the lamb.

We are grateful, overwhelmed and thankful to Him
who shed His wonder-working blood for us.

“The work of CHRIST”….

it is finished

“It is FINISHED!” – And bowing His head,  He gave up His Spirit.
John 19 :30

The Gospels – Matthew, Mark and Luke –
all tell us that Jesus died with a great shout upon His lips,
but they did not tell us what His last words were.
John, however, in his Gospel does that.

The original word is – Tetelestai –  “It is finished.”

It was a farmer’s word.
When he inspected an addition to the herd or flock
and find that it is whole or perfect-
The farmer cried – ‘Tetelestai.’

It was an artist’s word.
When the painter or sculptor had put the last
finishing touches to his masterpiece
,he would stand back and survey it.
If he saw nothing for correction or improvement,
he would explain -‘Tetelestai!’

It was a priestly word.
When some devout worshiper with a heart filled with gratitude
brought a lamb to the temple as an offering,
the priest would inspect the the animal.
If he found it to be without spot or blemish,
he would proclaim – ‘Tetelestai.’

When God completed Creation,
He looked upon it and said that it was very good.
And when He completed the work of redemption,
He cried with a loud voice, – ‘Tetelestai!’
It was the same in both the Old and New Testaments.

It was the shout of victory,
and the word that John uses. ‘Tetelestai’. –
The finished work of Christ –
provides the motivation for a life of
dedication and obedience.

Just before sunset that “Friday” –
Jesus was laid to rest in the tomb.

Jesus had completed the task that
He came to this earth to do for mankind.
He rose on Sunday morning triumphant!

“I am the resurrection and the life.
He who believes in Me,
though he may die, he shall live.”
John 11:25

May we be blessed in the assurance
that we too can have the “Victory – Tetelestai.”

To all Australian Fathers on Sunday.

“Now is the TIME..”

And behold,there was a man called Zacchaeus;
and he was a chief tax-collector
and he was rich. Jesus said to him-
“Zaccheus come down for today I must stay at your house.”
And he hurried and came down, and received Him gladly.”
Luke 19 : 2-6 {NASB}

Zacchaeus was in a tree from where he peered into the face of Jesus
who told him to come down. Note He said “today”.
Now came the test for Zacchaeus.
Did he hesitate and say-“Not today Lord?”
NO- he hurridly slid down the tree and received Jesus joyfully.
Jesus said to him,,
“Today, salvation has come to this house”.

Is that what we do? Or procrastinate and say-
“Tomorrow I will spend time with God.
Tomorrow I will do better”

Has not Jesus said..”I am come that they might have life,
and that they might have it more abundantly.”
{John 10:10}
Christ is not talking about in the future- but rather right NOW.

He loves us so much that He wants us
to have the very best life every moment.
He longs for us not to wait or put our decision for another time…
We do not live in the future, but the future lives in us.
Having a daily experience with God
draws us nearer to Him moment by moment.
The Holy Spirit invites us to follow him today- never tomorrow.

I praise the Lord for TODAY- Help us to make the most of today.

“Oil of UNITY”…

path of life

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity..
It is like the precious oil upon the head–
coming down on Aaron’s beard, and onto his robes.”
Psalms 133 : 1-2

“Oil” in the Old Testament was important for food and also used for sacred services. For anointing and healing.
David compares unity among God’s people with the precious oil
used during the ordination of the high priest Aaron-
It was a mixture of olive oil and perfume.

This sacred oil is to symbolize Christ’s righteousness
uniting with His people. It is the Holy Spirit.
The ‘oil’ of the Spirit eliminates friction and self-centered independence.
Only then are we all part of Christ’s unified body.

The Church is one body- with many members-
called from every nation, kindred, tongue and people.

“One body” with Christ at the head- producing harmony.
“One Spirit” – indwelling and controlling each person to produce unity.
“One hope”– The return of Jesus, is ‘this blessed hope’. {Titus 2:13}
“One Lord” – pagan religions have many gods, but Christianity has ONE God. “One Faith” – Christians achieve unity when all embrace the same body of biblical beliefs.
“One baptism”
– Baptism by immersion into the body of Christ emphasizes the unity of the Christian Church.

Our heavenly Father is the source of all UNITY in the family of God-
It is a powerful testimony to others.

“Forgetting the Past”….

high calling

“Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet;
but ONE thing I do;  forgetting what lies behind
and reaching forward to what lies ahead.”  Philippians 3 : 13

PAUL  who wrote these words to the Philippian Church, had a lot to forget.
Paul had watched a man- Stephen-
being stoned to death and had held the coats of those who did it.
He made “havoc of the church”  that Jesus Christ had started to the point
that just the mention of Saul’s name produced fear in the hearts of the dedicated Chistians.
When Jesus called him ‘on the road to Damascus’ – Paul forgot the “past guilt”-
but never how God forgave him.

PETER  had a lot to forget. Imagine him denying his Lord three times.   Isaiah wrote to God’s people  saying, “Fear not, for you will not be put to shame: neither feel humiliated , for you will not be disgraced; but you will forget the shame of your youth.” {Isaiah 54:4}

As we forget our past of guilt, we must never forget GOD – His gracious hand that has constantly preserved and enriched our lives. These thoughts enabled Paul to carry on – no matter what happened to him.

Praise God for helping us forget our past mistakes and giving us courage to press forward towards God’s goal for our lives for the future.

lose faith

…. His compassions fail not..
They are new every morning;
Lamentations  3 : 22-23

The “Fruit of Faithfulness” – is much needed in our time.
Faith – holds us steady
– when earthly foundations crumble all about us.
Faith – holds us steady
– when adversities hold us like a cloud of gloom.
Faith –  Uplifts and Energizes
“FAITH- is the VICTORY –  that overcomes the world.”

To believe is to be strong.
Doubt cramps energy.
Faith is energy  and power –
Enabled by the Holy Spirit in our lives.
Resulting in Faith-full-ness.

The Creator- God – who put faithfulness-
into the- fabric of the universe –
will produce that quality in the surrendered life.
The fruit of faith in our life will lead you and others

Your Future – A Happy New Year!

Jesus loves u

“For you have NOT passed this way before..” Joshua 3 : 4

A Happy and Blessed New Year – Friends.
As we embark into another year.

As we look forward – we are thankful for a God
who knows the future –
and has promised to walk with us all the way.

The NEW YEAR– Marks the passing of time.
Many regard – TIME- that steals our youth;
dims ours eyes; Slows our steps and saps our vitality.
They view TIME- as an enemy – we wrestle in mortal combat.
But for the CHRISTIAN -TIME- extends beyond an earthly lifetime-

The passing of TIME – takes the Christian
nearer and nearer to a better land….
Where we shall see our Savior face to face.
The important thing is to walk with the LORD –
through the days of this NEW YEAR!

“I said to the man – who stood at the gate of the year:
‘Give me a light, that I may tread safely into the darkness’.
And he replied– “Go out into the darkness-
And put your hand – into the hand of God.
It shall be to you better than light
And safer than a known way.”

“Thanksgiving Day”.

Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord from the heavens;
Praise Him in the heights!..”
Psalms 148 : 1-5

What comes to mind when you think of Thanksgiving?
Do you picture a time of thankfulness toward God—
or is it merely one of eating,
partying or watching football?

Sadly, the latter is what
Thanksgiving has become to most.
They have forgotten why the day was established.
Its meaning has slowly deteriorated,
and is now almost completely lost

While many are familiar with the
traditional representation
of the original Thanksgiving,
It is helpful to examine the purpose
for which it was first celebrated.
By doing this, the day’s meaning
will be firmly established.

May God grant that He may find us
grateful every day for all of His gifts,
spiritual and material.
“God is good, and every good gift comes from Him”
(James 1:17).

To- “Draw us to God”…

high as

“I have LOVED thee with an everlasting Love…
therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee.”
Jeremiah 31 : 3

The Lord of life and glory clothed His divinity
with humanity to demonstrate
to man that God through the
GIFT of Christ would connect us with Him.

In all the gracious deeds that Jesus did,
He sought to impress upon men the attributes of God…
Jesus would have us understand the love of the Father
and He seeks to draw us to Him
by presenting His Parental grace.

It was only by living among men that He
could reveal the mercy, compassion and
love of His heavenly Father.
For it was only by actions that He could
set forth the grace of God.

Christ came to manifest the love of God to the world…
To draw the hearts of all men to Himself.
The first step is to respond to the love of Christ-
So we can understand the joy and peace of God.
If we respond- He will lead us on
step by step to a full knowledge of Himself-
and this is LIFE ETERNAL!
