But godliness with contentment is great gain.
1 Timothy 6 : 6
It is a human tendency to feel that others
are happier than they actually are.
The people we envy for having what we lack-
probably have wounds and scars of their own.
Scripture tells of a man who had everything
that the heart could desire and still was unhappy.
Promotion; honor; even invitations to banquets
attended by the king and queen,
were not enough to make him happy.
All his blessings and benefits did not make Haman glad-
Haman had everything that most people want-
but he still was discontented,
when he saw Mordiecai the Jew, sittings at the kings gate.
(He ended up getting the very punishment he planned for Mordiecai)
Contentment is found only when we are satisfied
with where we are at and what we have.
The unconverted hearts- are constantly dissatisfied.
Environment, position or power –
will not bring peace or contentment.
We have to master the situation in which we live –
The ability to live above circumstances.
God has a purpose for us –
The secret of a satisfied and contended life is found only
in our relationship with Jesus Christ.
The grasslands of the wilderness overflow;
the hills are clothed with gladness.
