“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not Know.”
Jeremiah 33 : 3
The Roman’s designated January 1st as the beginning of the New Year.
January is named for JANUS the Roman god of doors and gates;
It represented as having two faces looking in opposite directions.
We look back to review the lessons learned and recount the blessings that we have received.
“… For you have not passed this way before.” Joshua 3 ; 4
As we look forward, we are thankful for a God who knows the future
and has promised to walk with us all the way.
The New Year marks the passing of time. Many regard time as a monster-
that steals our youth; dims our sight; grays our hair ; slows our steps and saps our vitality.
They view “time” as an enemy witch we have to wrestle in mortal combat.
But for the Christian – time extends beyond an earthly lifetime
into the countless ages of eternity.
The passing of time – carries the Christian nearer and nearer to a better shore
of a better land where we shall see our Savior face to face.
As the children od Israel came to the Jordan and faced an unknown future.
God promised to show them the way they should go.
For us – as for them, it is important to walk with the Lord in the coming year.
M. Louise Haskin wrote-
“I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year;
Give me a light, that I may tread safely into the unknown!”
And he replied – “Go out into the darkness, and put your hand into the hand of God.
It shall be to you better than light, and safer than a known way’
Trust in the Lord and he will keep His promises.
May we continue to have God continually in our life – as we step into a New Year-
God blessings go with you always.
