“Lord, Save Me!…..”

a drown

And He said- “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat and walked
on the water and came towards Jesus.
But seeing the wind, he became afraid, and began to sink,
he cried out saying, “Lord, save me!”
Matthew 14 : 29

Peter was confident that Jesus could make it possible for him to walk on water.
He stepped out of the boat and started walking towards Jesus.
But then he let his own strength,
his own willpower, and trust in himself get in the way.
He became afraid when he suddenly realized that his
OWN accomplishments
were insufficient to keep him on top of the water.

What does this teach us?
It says that we must keep our eyes on Jesus
and trust Him for our needs and salvation.
If in anyway we depend on our performance –
the stormy winds of uncertainty will
sweep away our assurance of salvation in Christ and Him alone.

Wesley’s experience gives us two important points.
He realized that the merits of Christ had the roots of his assurance.
Nothing he said or did  could ever provide him salvation.
For us to think otherwise steals from God the glory.
After Wesley’s conversion his self-denying life;
was to him now the “Fruit of holiness.”
The grace of God in Christ is the Christian’s hope,
and that ‘Grace’ will be manifested -in obedience

“You will know them by their fruits”. {Matthew 7:20}
What is the fruit of depending on Christ for our salvation?
It is more devotion and faithful obedience and selflessness.
But if it is ‘carelessness in spiritual things,
self- confidence and a decision to depend on oneself.’ –
We can be sure that we have  failed
to understand God’s leading by faith alone.

With our assurance of our salvation solely
on the merits of Christ -we will burn with the desire to share
this glorious and God’s free GRACE to everyone.

“Behold the lamb of God, which taketh away the sins of the world.”
{John 1:29}
Let our crucified and risen Lord;  our Savior, be the center of our attention;
Our hopes and our desires.
May this be what we want for ourselves-
and not only for us alone but to share it with everyone.

“Lest We Forget”….

Honoring the ‘Digger’s – on ANZAC  Day.

“I do not pray for these alone,
but also for those who will believe in Me through their word”.
John 17 : 20

1. War story-
A man was decorating an old grave with beautiful flowers-
Someone watching asked him,
“Is it your wife who lies here?”

The man explained, “No, but the man who lies here died in my place.
When the war broke between the states,
my name was drawn in the draft.
I had a wife and four little children who depended on me.
The man who lived on the next farm volunteered to go as my substitute.”
{Which was allowed in the Civil War.}

He went on to say,-“His mother was a widow, and he was her only son.
He went into the army in my place and died in action.
His mother has lived with our family since,
and it has been my privilege to care for her.
I support her just as her own boy would have done.
He died in my place, and I live in his place.

2. Another war story is told-
Of a ragged, dirty young man who knocked on a door of a farm house. {U.S.A.}
The lady. answered the door, and thought he was a tramp asking for a handout.
She said, “Go away, we don’t have time for tramps here.”
By this time her husband joined her at the door.
Looking at the unkempt stranger, he said,
“Go away, we do not want to be bothered.”

Reaching in his pocket, the young man produced a crumpled piece of paper
and handed it to the farmer. He read the following words.-
“Dear Mum and Dad, this is my friend who cared for me as I was dying on the battlefield.
Please. love him for my sake.” Signed “Harry.”

As we read these stories – we have to remember the “ONE” who died in our place.
Are we living to please ourselves? –
or are we living to please Him?
Jesus is saying – “LOVE them for My sake.”.

Think of our “Diggers” who went to war-
but never came back to their loved ones.
They have ‘paid the price for their country’.
May they get their reward.  R.I.P.

“The Ladder of Life…”

And he had a dream, and behold, a ladder was set on the earth
with its top reaching to heaven;  and behold,
the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.
And behold, the Lord stood above it and said,
I am the Lord.”   Genesis 28 : 12-13.

When Jacob was fleeing from his brother Easu
on his way to his uncle Laban’s home, –
he had a dream about the longest ladder in the universe.
Its end rested on the earth, while the top reached heaven.
There were a multitude of angels travelling up and down it –
and the ‘Lord ‘stood above this ladder,’
This dream was to remind Jacob that the Lord was with him,
to bring hope and help to him when he was alone.

Several years later when Jesus was here on earth,
He rebuked a place called Bethsaida, because of its unbelief.
But out of it came three of His leading disciples;
Simon Peter, Andrew and Philip. They were fishermen.

Philip showed quality by bringing Nathanel  to Christ.
He did not pressure him nor did he argue with him.
When Nathanel heard that Christ was from Nazareth he said-
“Can any good thing come out of that town?”

Philip answered- “Come and see for yourself-
I am telling you what I have seen and experienced in Him.”
It was his personal testimony-which was the greatest witness for Christ.

The central object in Christianity is Jesus.
‘Come and see!’  ‘ Taste for yourself.’
Listen to His voice and talk to Him through His Word.
The only safe way up this ‘ladder,’  is by looking to the Lord.
To look at anything else will lead to discouragement.

Christ is this ladder
The angels ascending and descending bring us hope and help.
Without it we will be disconnected from God, our only link to heaven.

And He said { to Nathanael}
Truly, truly, I say to you,  you shall see the heavens opened,
and the angels
of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
John 1 : 51

“He gave us an EXAMPLE”…..

“For you have been called for this purpose,
since Christ also suffered for you,
leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps,
who committed no sin,
nor was any deceit found in his mouth,”
1 Peter 2 : 21

Francis of Assisi invited a young man to accompany him
on a preaching  expedition through the city of Florence- Italy.
In silence they passed through one street after another
and eventually returned to their starting point.

“But, Father,” the young man said puzzled and disappointed.
“I thought we were going to preach?”
“We have preached,”  Francis replied. “We were observed as we walked.
They marked us as we walked- So it was we preached'”

There is nothing more powerful for good or evil than individual example.
Paul realized this when he wrote to Timothy-
“Let no one look down on your youthfulness,
but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity,
show yourself an example of those who believe.” {1 Timothy 4:12}

Jesus Himself proclaimed,
“For I gave you an example that you should also do as I did to you.”
{John 13:15}
Therefore, as messengers of God we must not put
programs and plans above character development-they must go together.

Character does not come naturally:
It must be worked at and maintained.
Malachi deals with this problems that-
even though it was for priests then- applies to us today.

Malachi 1:2. “I have loved you,”  says the Lord.
Tragically His people were blind to His love.
Insulting they ask “In what way do you love us?”
It is sad that sometimes God’s most favored people
are blind to His love and favor.
We should develop a spirit of constant praise, adoration and worship
– and spend time contemplating His LOVE.

As I stop and think- I see that His love has been exhibited in my life –
Regardless of what has happened in my life.

People or Money!!….

arms me

“For what is a man profitable if he gains the whole world,
and looses his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”
Matthew 16 : 26

What do you care for the most?  People OR Money?
One of the miracles of Christianity is
that it gives man a higher regard for men and women
than for money.  But selfish human nature is contrary to this.

When Jesus was here on earth, He healed a poor man
who had a whole legion of demons possessing him.
Somehow, that healing involved the loss of a herd of swine.
The owners of the swine completely overlooked the miracle of a fellow human
being restored to his right mind – because their gaze was only on the swine.

Is your brother or sister in the human family
more valuable to you thoughts of  money??

The story of the ‘rich young ruler’
tells us that he was faced with a choice- between men or money.
He had many virtues – but he failed the test.
Many times Christian service has a monetary price attached to it.
To share our time with others may involve a decision
whether to use it to make more money
OR to reach out in caring ministry to others.

What men and women really want is honest interest in them.
Real human interest? They look into your eyes – and they read there
– whether to you a person is more precious  than fine gold or not.

“Do you love the world or the things in the world?
If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
For all that is in the world – the lust of the flesh,
the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life-
is NOT of the Father but is of the world.
And the world is passing away, and the lust of it,
but he who does the will of God abides forever.”
1 John 2: 15-17

“If any man will come after Me,
let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me,”
Mark 10:22

“I am the Good Shepherd”….

I am..

“As a shepherd seeketh out his flock
in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered;
so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them
out of all places where they have been scattered
in the cloudy and dark day..”   Ezekiel  34 : 12

Truly, truly, I say to you, Before Abraham was born,  I AM.”  John 8:58

This passage powerfully supports the claim that Jesus was truly God.
The Jews found it hard to accept this- because Jesus chose to spend His time with “sinners’.
He spent time with them- because he came seeking to ‘Redeem them”.

Jesus coming to this world was to save us-
All that He said about Himself was true as Scripture proves.

1. I am the Way, the  Truth and the life.

2. I am the True Vine

3. I am  the Resurrection – and the Life

4. I am the Bread of Life.

5. I am the Gate – for you to enter.

6 I am the Light of the World.

7. I am the Good Shepherd.

In Christ’s parable of the lose sheep,
the shepherd goes out looking for only ONE lost sheep.
He does not save mobs, crowds or multitudes-
He delivers people one at a time.
He came to our world to rescue us-
and he would have done it even for ONE individual.
This is beyond our comprehension- but true.

The shepherd makes sure that the 99 are accounted for and are safe,
before He goes out seeking the solitary lost sheep.
But today, there are not just one lost –
there are billions of sheep who have lost their way from God.

He left the safety of His heavenly home,
and did not turn back as the thorns lacerated His head
and the nails tore into His hands and feet-
Willing to ‘Sacrificed Himself’ for all His lost sheep.

“And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders,
rejoicing carrying him back home.”He does not whip us or drive us- Never.
He who bore our sin in His body
Loved- us to the point of death. {1 Peter 2:24}

Praise God for sending his Son- to redeem mankind.
He was a “fully God and fully man”

“Happy Sabbath – God bless.”

“He died for us…”

4 u*******

“I delivered to you first of all that which I also received;
that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures”
1 Corinthians  15 : 3

During this last week I have reflected on the days of the
‘Life of Christ’  His sufferings;  Death and Resurrection.
It has helped me to try and understand what Christ went through –
No one can really imagine – what He bore for us.
I hope that those who read my Journal this week have been blessed-
By knowing the ‘Sufferings of Christ’.  Thank you for your support.

Today I want to complete ‘The events of that Resurrection Sunday”.

At a funeral service of a loved one- These words are often spoken.-
“I am the Resurrection and the Life:”   {John : 11:25}
His resurrection is a pledge that all the dead will rise again one day.
As the angel rolled away the stone from the tomb-
so Christ’s resurrection rolls away all the doubt and unbelief from our hearts.

The one who gives life to all, will restore life again.
‘God is the ‘life giver’.  {Acts 26:8}
As Mary Magdalene failed to recognize her Lord, due to tears blurring her vision;
often it is the same with us. Our eyes sometimes dimmed, dulls our vision-
even though He is right by our side.

That same afternoon, two other disciples were walking on the road to Emmaus,
a little town near Jerusalem.
Even though these men had heard the report from the women that the tomb was empty;
they were not convinced of the Resurrection.
As they were walking and discussing all these events a stranger joint them.
He asked them if they had not heard  what had happened that morning?
They invited Jesus into their home for a meal;  Jesus blessed and broke the bread;
“Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him.” {Luke 21:31}  Then Jesus disappeared.

E sacr

They hastened to Jerusalem to tell the disciples- that they had seen the risen Christ.
They heard that Jesus had met Peter in Galilee.
As they were excitedly sharing their experiences;
Suddenly, Jesus appeared in the upper room.
He showed them the scars in His hands and feet, and invited then to touch Him.

b He lives

Just like the ‘stone’ was rolled away-
we find that with God’s help, we too can remove every ‘stone’
that stands before us and our future.
We want to move forward but something holds us back.
The situation may appear impossible as we look ahead.
But as we keep moving forward- even though the future looks uncertain;
God can move whatever is obstructing  our way. ‘Because He lives.”

Thank you for following me this week-
I hope and pray that you will be inspired by Christs Love for us.
