“PRAYER”….   Leave a comment

“We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks!
For your wondrous works declare that your name is near.”
Psalms 75:1

“More things are wrought by PRAYER than the world dreams of.”
Alfred Lord Tennyson.

Jesus’ prayer life reveals a constant dependence  on His heavenly Father.
It was on his knees alone with the Father
that Jesus received his greatest strength.

“Praise”  shifts the emphasis from self to God.
Never should we forget that we are children of the heavenly King.
The glories of each new morning will give us reasons
for praising the Creator as we behold the beauties of nature.

“Nothing tends more to promote health of body and soul
than does a spirit of gratitude and praise.”
Prayer is talking to God, but we need a two way relationship to communicate.
We need to listen to His voice speaking to us.

“Wait upon the Lord.”- This is a trust relationship with God.
Surrender to His will because we can have complete confidence in Him.
Have a personal acquaintance with Him-  The promises of His Word-
And His dealings with us in the past.

“Confession”- It is admitting we have done wrong.
God will forgive us when we are willing to admit –
and confess our wrongs to Him.

Read Prayerfully- Spend time daily reading God’s Word- The Bible.
It should be for the purpose of getting to know God better.
Read it Prayerfully and listen to what God has to say to us on a personal level.

“Watch & Pray”- It implies- staying alert and on guard being aware
of the ways Satan tries to hinder our prayers.
He tries to keep our minds busy with less important things and the cares of life.

“Prayer of Thanks” – The Bible says- “In everything give thanks-
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.’  {1 Thessalonians 5:18}.
We can even thank God for adversity, even though it is so hard at the time.
He allows nothing to befall us that will not prove to be for our own good.
As we look back on these circumstances  we will see
how the Lord has been with us through tough times.

“Singing & Meditation” – “As a part of  Service-
singing is as much an act of worship as  is Prayer.
Indeed many a song is Prayer” . {Education p 168}
Jesus spent time in meditation with His Father –
In fields and quiet places meditating, searching the Scriptures or in Prayer.

“Intercession” – This is Praying to God for the needs of others.
The Lord has placed the burden on our hearts
to pray for the sick, needy, the broken and sad souls.
Not only to pray but also to try as best we can to bring God in their lives.
They need answered prayers too.

“Petition.” – It expresses our need and dependence on the Lord.
“The Lord’s Prayer” is a model that he gave us.
It deals with our duty to God and also our relationship with our fellow men.

Sometimes we do not receive what we always want-
James 1:6
says- “.. Let us ask in faith, with no doubting…” God knows are needs.

As we look at the different aspects of PRAYER-
May it draw us closer to God –
So that we can learn more about His Love for us.
